See what they have available and make you choice from that
Most of the time at the shows by me they usually just have DPMS lowers and pot luck. Sometimes Stag, other times DoubleStar, ect. I'm not picky on what brand I buy although I do have more Stag than others.

I'd get the cheapest of the list.

I chose the CMMG because of the price. They were $99 at the last show while all others were anywhere from $125-$175.
Which one looks best to you? Last edited by rsb5772; 10-09-2008 at 10:59 PM. |

A lower is a lower is a lower for the most part. pick the roll mark you like the best and go with it. the LPK you got is by far one of the most commonly used LPK i however do not like the DPMS trigger I personally use the STAG LPK for my next build I will order Piece by piece by Piece and put together my own lower parts kit, while this is not the most cost effective way to do it I will get exactly the parts that I want and and not have anything left for my AR box.
my next LPK will include JP Ajustable trigger. JP speed hammer JP 3.5 trigger spring kit. JP anti Walk trigger and hammer pins YHM take down and pivot pins Stag Ambie selector switch. MIAD Full Pistol grip Kit. then a standard mag release with oversized button and a standard buffer detent and spring. like i said this is not very cost effective as the LPK will run close to $300 but I will not have any extra triggers, disconnectors, hammers, grips or take down pins that i do not need either and it will have all the parts that i want in it. of course I could go more expensive and get a gressle trigger but that would be over kill, I love the way the JP trigger feels, its nice and light has a very crisp clean break with almost zero over travle and has a very short reset. for the money its hard to beat for a single stage trigger. the way i look at it is if im going to end up with these parts anyhow why not just save the $65 for the LPK and start with these. especially since this build is going to be done very slow over time if i need to i will slap a stock and upper on it and and snap a few pic just incase there is another ban.

when I got my lower there was 1 table that had DPMS, CMMG and STAG for 105$ and the spike custom rollmark lowers for 124$. there was another table that had Double Star for 105$ while everyone else was selling the same lowers for 120-150$. I asked the same question and got the answer "pick the rollmark that youlike" I went with the CMMG... just cause it was also 1 of the finalist for the Upper that I was going to get, but I went with a different upper. Still like the CMMG rollmark though. |

CMMG has a teflon coating on it as well, Stag does not. You can see the difference in the photo below. The Stag is at the top, CMMG below it. I just picked these up the other night. I have 2 Stags, this is my first CMMG lower. The CMMG out here is more expensive than the Stag.

yes spikes custom rollmarks have a different assortment, 'infidel', an american flag, the spikes spider, the punisher skull, the marines insignia, 'LEO use only', jolly rogers and most are color filled. here are some sights that offer rifle kits. Del-Ton, Inc. A complete line of AR-15 Rifles, AR 15 Parts and AR15 Accessories. RifleGear Parts Kits - FFE& J&T Distributing: Black Rifle Specialists Firearms, ar15 parts, ar15 accessories, m16, ar15 kns there are alot of other out there, those were the few that I was deciding between. also, as 1bigpea mentioned some lowers are teflon coated and some aren't so you get a flat 'black' look to stags while the CMMG lower has a little more sheen. not all that important but it can make the upper and lower look a little more matched when pinned together. |

If you do decided to order only the upper and not a rifle kit. Make sure you're the boltcarrier assembly and charging handle come with the upper.
