Gun show this weekend

I'm thinking of going to the Gun Show here in Charlotte this weekend and I'd like to buy myself an AR15. I've never been to a gun show and was wondering are the prices "cheaper" then buying online? What would be a "good price". I'm not looking for anything high end but I'd like the weapon be reliable. Some people are going to say "build one", but I'd much prefer to buy complete due to my inexperience.

I don't know about the gun shows where you are, but the guns at most of the gun shows here are more than most of the expensive stores. And they are by far much more than buying online. You might be able to find a stripped lower for a decent price, but that is probably all I would buy. Buy everything else online.

Do your research online and check prices of various brands so you have a good idea of what asking prices are. Then figure in shipping and transfer fees. That will give you a ballpark figure of what price you can expect at the show. Here prices run about the same at the shows as they do in stores.

Good luck

Gun shows will be slightly cheaper than a gun store but building your own rifle will be cheaper than both. In Dallas, Texas that is.

a gun show and gun store will charge you sales tax extra
online will cost you a FFL transfer if the lower receiver is included and shipping costs but you will avoid taxes.

I bought my stripped lower reciever from a gun show for 109$(CMMG receiver). then I bought a complete rifle kit(Del-Ton, Inc. A complete line of AR-15 Rifles, AR 15 Parts and AR15 Accessories.) with 20$ for shipping. I spent roughly 780$ for my complete rifle, the same build if I bought it at a gun show woulda been over 1000$. that also woulda been because I woulda had to to with stag or S&W or RRA.

My nephew and I went to an area show 2 months ago....They had DPMS, RRA, S&W, Bushmaster, Oly, Stag.

Only one of them was over $1000. The was the RRA.

He got a Stag with the carry handle, whatever model that is for $800. They must bend you over in Dallas

IIRC at the show the S&W was $900, the Bushmaster $950, the Stag was stickered $850, the guy with the RRA's must have been smoking crack or something, plain jane RRA $1050. Didn't even bother to look at the price on the Oly, and the DPMS were $850.

Nah you can find plenty of those listed above for under 1000$ but I wasn't going for stock A2 carry handle, collapsible stock, handguards or FSB. I wanted flipfront sight/gasblock, rear BUIS, railed freefloat hand guard, magpul CTR stock. which meant I woulda had to go with custom Stag 2T, S&W M&P, RRA entry tactical or some other customized rifle which woulda equaled more $$$. I saw some that for just freefloat railed handguard from YHM being marked up 200$... when it cost me just 70 as an upgrade on my rifle kit I ordered.
