If there are any cast lowers still out there they are 99.99% more than likely pre-1994 ban and would be worth a small fortune in the states that still have an AWB.

The most recent cast lower receiver was the DPMS stainless lower, which is no longer in production.

If you are just buying the lowers for an investment in the future, buy a stripped lower.

You can get a stripped lower as cheap as $79.

So what should I look to pay for a "good enough" complete lower? Like someone else mentioned, I would rather invest more into the upper.

I looked at the RRA complete lower but it was in the $350 range. Whats the best complete lower that $225 can buy?

There's one major difference between lowers that I've noticed that no one seems to bring up.

Finish. The finish on some lowers, looks terrible. You need to see them side by side. You also need to see the lowers compared to the uppers... that is if looks is meaningful to you at all.

On my shooters, i don't care one way or another, but part of me hates buying an ugly gun. If I wanted an ugly gun, I'd have a grendal.

I will definitely take that into consideration as well. I would prefer that the upper and lower match for the most part. Anyone else have a suggestion on a completed lower for around $225-$250?

realistically, the one you put together. otherwise it will be the most basic builds. look locally for the best prices. online initially look better but then you have shipping and transfer fees.
