Flip-up covers on Comp M4?

I recently purchased Aimpoint flip-up covers for my Comp M4. The front site (smaller end) slid over the site with little difficulty, snapped in to the grove, and works well. The rear site (larger end) I cannot get the cover on for the life of me.

Any suggestions? Usually I would put dish detergent or some other type of lubricant to slide something like this on, but I'd rather not get any of that near my optic.

Aside from putting a very small slice with a razor blade (which I don't really want to do either) on the "lip" of the cover, has anyone else had this problem and found an easy fix.

Thanks!

The flip up cover is rubber or plastic isn't it? If so have you tried heating in warm water or with a blow dryer?
