Case for my impending AR

What are you guys doing for a case for your AR?

I'd like to get one by the time my FAR-15 arrives.

Also, my gun will be 42" overall length. What's a standard minimum case length for a 42" gun? Is there a rule of thumb for additional length over the gun length? The gun will be scoped.

Pelican and storm both told me to have 2" of foam between anything in the case for it to provide adiquate protection so add 4" to the overall lenght at the minimum (2" each side). As for the best case.... I only use hard cases in rare circumstances. Airlines ect. For the car going to and fromthe range, a nice soft case is adiquate unless you are going 4 wheeling in a UTV or something, then maybe the hard case would be nice insurance.

I plan on using the same Gun Locker case I've got for my deer rifle.

Cases

Well,
I keep trying to post but I keep getting a refresh/kick that says I am not logged in. Whatever.
I can give you a couple of sites to go to. They have a ton of fun for bags and discreet transportation methods. You should have no trouble finding what you need.

Tactical Store - Police, Military, SWAT, Tactical Gear - SALE & FREE SHIPPING on orders over $29.95

Gun Cases / Bags

BLACKHAWK !:

Welcome to the DPMS Online Store — DPMS: AR-15 Rifles, Parts and Accessories.

Online Store — DPMS: AR-15 Rifles, Parts and Accessories. My Personal favorite "GET ODA DA HOUSE!!!!!" bag. It probably shows the LOE intent, but whatever.

Welcome to Hardigg Cases, The Most Reliable Transport Solutions in the World

I'm sure there are a couple at amazon, but they would be a side show to the real deal.

Anyway, Good luck. I'm torn between a 41" Blackhawk bag that has storage for a pistol and magazine, and a particular drag bag.
I go to the range now with a med. alice pack and a towell. Funny how the bare minimum seems to draw that (Hey, is that the guy that's gonna ride his lawnmower to the White House?) look.
Maybe I should get a more discreet bag. LOL.

2" on all sides is good advice. I only use a hard case for my AR since I have stuff attached to it like a large scope and bipod. I also have room in the case for 6 mags and a cleaning kit so its a one stop shop for me going to the range.

I bought a case from sportsmasguide.com, it was made by kodiak, it was only $29 so i didnt exspect much. Its awsome though. It holds my AR-15 good and it also has a seprit poket that hols another 5 ar mags, has a pistol holster in side for my XD and holds 10 pistol mags, and its made very tough. I was surprised by it. but there out of stock right now, sorry.

If you're looking for a soft case, Galati International makes the best, IMO. I have two for my ARs, an XT and a Discreet, and one for my AK. Extremely well padded, so much so, they won't sag if you stand them upright, good storage for mags and accessories, and not overly expensive. My rifles fit, with scopes attached and mags inserted.

Go here: Galati International - Shooting and Gun Accessories

ETA: Nevermind, I see you already bought a soft case.

I have this one and it's been good for me. Holds all accessories nicely and is comfortable to carry. I got mine at a retail location of Untitled Document for $89.99.
