Recently purchased a BSA red dot for the hell of it. The rheostat broke in my first few minutes of using it. I do not recommend any bsa after using this red dot.

YMMV

Buy a high riser scope mount. It has 2 screws to remove it.It holds zero and can be taken on and off in 5 seconds. This is what i have with my Nikon buckmasters 3x9 scope.Don't put a junk scope on a nice rifle.

^^^this is a good option as well. I may consider this. Not in too much of a hurry to purchase, taking my CHL this sunday so I have to get stuff in order.

I think I might have narrowed it down to the Leapers 5th gen 3-9x40 or the Nikron Prostaff 3-9x40 matte and use with a riser mount. Both of these are metal construction correct? Pictures seem to indicate so. Do the rings that the scopes mount on have some kind of padding or shock absorption material where it contacts the scope? I see a lot of pictures and its just bare metal is that good for the scopes finish?

I already have problems seeing the red center of the target (2" diameter) at 100 yards. The rest of the target is black and against a black front sight post and its hard to tell where the top of the post is sometimes. Sort of thinking about applying some white out at the top so I can contrast the two.
Look for lighter-colored targets... I don't understand why all these companies make black stick-on targets. When shooting something with such a short sight radius (I normally shoot 03A3's, so 16" AR's piss me off sometimes), keeping the sight picture the same from shot to shot is key.

If you work at it, I'd be willing to bet you could cut your group sizes in half.

Go with the nikon, leapers is junk.Once you tighten the screws on the scope rings, you'll never touch them again. It doesn't hurt the scope to just mount it to the rings.

The CAA mount for $28 would have been better quality probably.
