So, what kind of n/v would one need to go with a 552? Maybe a reccomendation on where to buy? What is worht getting and not worth getting?? I know they are expensive but since I have the option, might as well use it. (or dream about it anyway lol)

Maybe I don't understand how the NV feature on a 552 works, but don't you look through the eotech as normal, but wearing NV? I think it just puts up a reticle that is visible through NVG's. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've never heard of NV going in front of a weapon-sight.

Law Enforcement Sales: Eotech Holographic 552 AA With Night Vision Capability Scope

Visit that page and scroll down a bit. The NVS they use is the PVS 14.

I think with a scope or acog, you mount the PVS upfront.

The only pics I saw show the EOTech in front of a PVS-14 mounted to the rail of an M4 and one w/ a soldier with helmet mounted PVS-14 (also behind the eotech).

I'm probably wrong .. But I thought the NV part of an Eotech was that, if enabled, it would not get bright enough to overpower the NV scope. Kind of like a fast way to be very dim and not get to bright.

As for a recommendation .. Sorry, no first hand experience, so I'll just read what others have to say.

You actually can use NV stuff with the 512. Problem with the 512 is your reticle is visiable to the other guy if he happens to have NVG too. With the 552, the other guy will not see your reticle.

The thing about NV equipment is it is really only advantage for the first shot. Once you shoot your weapon, you will give away your position by the flash of of the gun. Also I prefer NV goggles with an IR laser over a a NV scope. With a scope you have to keep your eye on the gun, this is hard to do in the dark. With NVG's you can just point and shoot.

Check out the NV section in arfcom, there is some pretty sweet pics with NV goggles, IR illuminator, and IR laser in action.
