Gas block question
To start, below is a picture of my current setup. I have purchased a Tacpoint and a Troy rear flip up BUIS for this. What I would like to do is take off this front gas block/front sight off, put on a low profile gas block, and then add a front flip up sight. How easy would this be to do? I bought my upper as a completed assembly, but I'm an engineer, so I'm not afraid of the mechanical work. I've just never taken it apart, so I'm not sure what I'll find. Will I need a special tool for it? Is there a special low profile gas block that I should be looking for or will any do? Any to stay away from?
Thanks

I took the front sight/gas block off to install a free float tube. If you are comfortable with a bit of banging on the sight to knock out the pins, and unscrewing the flash suppressor it's not too bad. There's a quick how to o AR15.com on removing the sight.

So any gas black should do? I was thinking of something like this.
Troy Industries Low Profile Gas Block

That I can't answer, I've never replaced the gas block. I just removed it to put the FF tube in and the put back the same one.

With the low profile block you just posted you might want to "dimple" the barrel so the set screws will set better

16. The flash hider looks like it just screws on.

i like the low profle gas blocks with the rail on top so you have something to put the BUIS on. I'm not a fan of the sight on the hand guards. it might even match up to your quad rail set up

i would go with any low profile gas block, or if you want..get a gas block that is railed so you can attach your sight to that.
i personally would get a lo-pro block, and then get a longer handguard to cover the block and move the front sight further away from the rear sight. MI makes a railed block that should match up with your top rail. if your going to go with a lo-pro block...i really like the VLTOR one's. both options i have posted are under $50

I like the railed gas block that Troy makes (as shown on their website). But I can't find it stocked anywhere. Would a normal flip-up front sight work on these?
