Hey guys, my roommate use to be a sniper in the army. He asked me to see if I can find a parts kit for a .50cal rifle for him, but I'm more into the AR and close range rifles then bolt action or LRRs. Do any of you have a suggestion for a parts .50cal LRR?

Seems kind of odd that a real sniper would have problems knowing where to get weapons parts?

Well, his been out of firearms for awhile, we got into a discussion about it. He got out of the Army after the 1st Iraqi War. His been wanting a rifle himself now that we became roommates because I have 2 ARs and building an M4 now.

Sorry, don't know of many (any actually) parts kits for 50 cal's.

If he's truly wanting a 50, try Keneseke Guns. They're stocking dealers for Barrett, and there are quite a few other brands out there too. Even Bushmaster is coming out with a 50 cal soon, but not exactly in an true AR form.

But there isn't anything in the same class as the M82A1 from Keneseke. It came complete with bipod, Schmidt/Bender scope and Badger ring, pelican case, the whole package for around $11,000.

Sounds weird to me too, like he is bull****ting you. Ask him how to range with a mildot, and if he hedges get a new roommate. Other than that:
How much does he want to spend?
Single shot or magazine feed?

How is it weird? I'm willing to bet his last rifle was issued, not bought. I've never seen a unit armory with a store around the side, either.

Gun show. That being said, .408 for sniping in a civilian/political capacity is the way to go. Just the rifle from EDMS should run you $7500 and its a suitcase gun!

Royally screwed up intelligent analytic mind. We need more laws to protect these three rights. Ban guns in schools, it obviously works.
