Shot my Bushmaster for 8 hrs in rain

We just had our annual qualification at our dept. with our rifles and we shot 8 hrs straight in steady rain . I got to tell ya , the Bushmaster is a damn good rifle. I cant recall how many round I shot , but it was a lot and I have shot it a bunch before , but in heavy rain like we had it did great . Dropping mags in mud and later recovering them and re-using them and it still funtioned great . The only thing I dont like is how damn dirty the action gets since its letting the gas go through it . I have always shot AK's and SKS's with the piston systems and they are WWWAAAYYY more cleaner than these AR's . But the accuracy was awesome. I was easily getting head shots on metal swinging targets at 75 yrds. We just got our stock sights replaced with Tritium night sights . We have the tritum on the front and on the rear with the "large" apperature. Its not on our "small" apperature. Anyways it made a beliver outta me . Other than having to clean it so much , the Bushmaster really rocks for me . Not one FTF or FTE.

Sounds like good fun.

Oh, my Toyota Tacoma was the best truck I've ever owned. I've had 1 Ford and 2 GMC's in the past but the Tacoma was awesome. Anyway, back to the program. Happy shooting.

my dad has a bushmaster as well...he loves his, i think its pretty damn good too for the price. he has about 600 rounds fired through his and not a single FTE or FTF.

Could it be that the rain helped and kept it from getting too hot?

Your dept. must be funded by a local casino. I have run some of these events and if I can get the gov't bean-counters to spring for a solid hour's worth of training ammo, I'm doing good.
