waiting on my stimulus check to purchase the upper, flash hider, and gas block.

the rest will be purchased one at a time, on a weekly basis, until complete.

everything but the DPMS LPK has been purchased at RainierArms.com very fast shipping, and great price's.

the DPMS LPK was purchased locally.
just wondering... will the barrel you are getting have a permanent flash hider on there to bring it to the legal 16" or are you going to make this an SBR? i'm asking because, if it is going to have the permanent hider, how are you going to get your low profile gas block on there? i'm thinking you are trying to hide the gas block under your rail kinda like how i did mine

but i had to go with a 16" barrel that didn't have a permanent hider. i think if you buy a 14.5" barrel that's doesn't have a perm. hider NFA rules would apply...

That was gonna be my Q about the 14 1/2. Short is nice, but I prefer the non-perm, because AR's have a tendency to change.

Mine pictured above is Rev 4.5 or so, (fourth AR, fifth version of that one).

i will cut off the fixed flash hider, then install the gas block, then pin and weld the new hider.

arent the hider's on 14.5" barrels just threaded on, and then they pin and weld them in place....correct?

i have no idea. i know you can take the perm hider off by using a dremel and stuff, and i guess you can weld a new hider onto it permenantly, but if i don't know if cosmetically if it'll look good. if you don't mind the tac welds and stuff, then go for it. i'm not really sure on that and i'm not anywhere close to knowing anything about welding and stuff... sorry!

i am pretty sure they can be welded back on, then you grind down the weld's to make everything smooth and round, then re-coat it.
