Need Advice on Price

Hey guys,
It's been awhile since I posted, but I have a question now. There's a local gun shop that's offering Olympic Arms "base model" AR's for $625 out the door price. Is this a good deal/brand? I don't know much about AR's, but I really want to get in on the scene with something cheap that I can take home, start shooting, and build upon later.

Read that first:

So you want to buy an AR-15 - FAQs

Olympic Arms is an OK brand, but you can buy better brands for not that much more. I'd honestly spend a few more dollars and buy quality stuff, but that's just me.

Yah, just reading that he makes it seem that Olympic Arms sucks. I'm not looking to drop through a skylight on top of terrorist plot though, just shoot random objects around in the woods. Is there anywhere online I get a complete AR at a good price? I've been through a lot sites that sell everything but the lower and frankly I don't want to have to buy my gun in pieces and put it togeather.

Buy a CMMG Complete Lower $265.95 and a CMMG 16" Mid length Upper $525.25
Total = 791.90 or choose from about 10 different variations to suite your specific needs.

When you get them push 2 pins and they are together. A complete rifle costs $1,025 off their site. Its cheaper to buy the 2 halves separate then a complete rifle. Plus CMMG has a good product and @ 800 bucks I don't think you can complain. Don't take my word though I am not done building mine yet! Do the research and you will basically come to the same conclusion.

Before I get 50 replies about other brands I am not saying anything else sucks I am just giving what I believe to be a good choice both quality and wallet wise. Of course there are others out there I just like CMMG. So like I said research and look around for a week or so and get to know the basics of each brand name.

For about $700: Black Guns

You still need magazines and a rear sight, or there is one for $740 that has the carry handle/rear sight.

I'll speak up on the other side. My coworker has 2 olympic AR's and they work fine. I wouldn't buy one if I was going into combat but for shooting at the range I'd buy one.

+1

Oly. may not be the best, by far, but every time I've pulled the trigger on one its gone *bang*. OP said he wanted to kill backyard objects, and not the Taliban, so Oly. should do fine, imo.

People who bash Olympic have no experience with them. They are no Colt, but they are nice range plinkers.
