Last weekend, I shot over 100 rounds of .22 using the Ciener .22LR Conversion Kit. After reading about the Gas Buster and the home made fix, I looked at my AR and noticed this... a lot of white powder residue underneath the charging handle.
![]() Looking at the top side of the charging handle, any blowback would go upwards. I don't see how that home made gasket fix would do anything in my case. ![]() The bottom side tells a different story. Look at the streak that goes out towards the end. ![]() Now look at the top of the lower receiver. ![]() Here's another view of the receiver without the charging handle. ![]() And one with the charging handle in place. ![]() I think I found the culprit. There's a small gap underneath the charging handle and the crud is making its way out. I bet that's what's hitting me in the face and giving my that stinging sensation. I can think of two options to fix this. 1) Find a charging handle that's taller so it fills in the gap and there's less up and down play. 2) Add some sort of gasket to close that gap. I bet I could close some of that gap with some sort of sticker or duct tape on the bottom side of the T-end of the charging handle. Your thoughts?

Anything like tape or a sticker wouldn't survive the first time you got any oil or cleaning solvent on it.
