need some help
I am looking to get a m4 style carbine in 9mm. I do not want to have a dedicated 9mm lower because down the road I would like to get .223 upper for it. I know that a mag bloc will convert the mag well to 9mm but do I have to change anything else when swapping out the uppers I do not want to have to mess with a new hammer or trigger or buffer. I really want this to be as easy as pulling the mag bloc and swapping the upper. Is this feasible I spent most of last night on ar15.com. I would have posted this there but I couldn't register with a gmail account. Any info would be great, I'm going to a gun shop later today to take a look at a few options.

Yep- go with the DPMS hammer I think it is or a 9mm hammer. Both will function with either upper. I run a 9mm buffer in all mine anyways. Simple swap from 9mm to .223.

Olympic Arms pistol caliber uppers are compatible with standard lowers by using the mag blocks. Nothing else needed. No different hammers, no different anything. They're plug and play.
Everyone else I know of uses different hammers if they're based on the Colt design.
