Stainless barrel break-in/which bore brush?

Just put together my first AR and I'm going to the range tomorrow. Do I even need to break it in? If so what procedures are recommended? Is a regular bore brush (copper?) good to go or should I use nylon?

I've read several threads on other forums that this whole break in thing is a myth.

copper. and dont "break it in".

Just clean it before you shoot it. and when you are done shooting for the day, clean it again.

I like boresnakes better than brushes for cleaning the bore, but for cleaning the chamber area, I do use copper chamber brushes there.

If no directions came with the gun for break in, than just clean and shoot.

Use a bronze phosphor brush.

If you really want to follow a break in procedure, there is plenty of info in a google search.

If you don't break it in, and there is a burr from the chamber cutting it will catch a little copper from each shot and keep building up.

If you shoot-clean-shoot, if there is a burr it will catch copper then you'll clean it out before it catches more copper from the next round. You'll knock down the burr after a few shots.

I don't think it's a big deal either way but if you're going for accuracy I would say better safe than sorry and just break it in. I broke my stainless barrel in by 1 shot then clean 5 times, 3 shots then clean 1 or 2 times then 5 shots then clean. No idea if it actually had any effect.

I shot and cleaned for the first 3, then cleaned again after 15 or so and then just went to town. 100 yards resulted in fist size groups using wolf x193. Iron sights. Overall I'm pretty happy.

Wolf 55 grainers holds 2" moa at 100 yards with my 16" bushie.

I have heard that Wolf typically shoots minute of pie plate so I was pleased.
