I've run with one of the carbine version on my AR. In retrospect the money could of been spent else where, I feel a modest improvement of the impulse being uniformly or evenly distributing the mass of the bolt being thrown back, not noticeable enough for a semi-auto, but I suspect it would be more effective for full-auto ARs. I don't have any objective way of measuring the affect, as I don't notice a difference between shot times and accuracy, or have equipment I can rig up to measure force dissipated with time. I noticed that if you run reloads, plinking grade - with a minimum load, it might fail to cycle. That also reminds me that if you wanted to keep the bolt back, you'll have to quickly pull the charging handle and engage the catch, otherwise doing it slow doesn't quite work. The only benefit would probably be the sound the buffer spring makes after compression, with this hydraulic buffer it seems to dampen it. Again all this is from my standpoint with a semi-auto AR.

I think that hydraulic buffer is meant more for full auto or select fire than for single shot mode.

I thought about getting one. My 16" AR-10 kicks like a bucking horse on crack. Follow up shots would be so much easier if it could lessen the recoil.

the main reason i want(ed) one, is because it seems to lessen the impact on your rifle; theoretically, increasing the life span of said rifle.
now if they made one for teh M1A.....

The AR's recoil spring and buffer does double duty, it resets the bolt and helps in easing recoil. M1A has an oprod spring to reset the bolt, but it does not have any mechanism to help in recoil. That is why the M1A is an outdated design.
