Best BUIS for around $100

I am looking to find a nice folding rear sight for around $100. I would like to have a nice low profile one if possible. I really like the looks of the Troy BUIS but it is a bit expensive at $140. Are there any websites that offer the Troy rear folding sight for less then $140?? The other sights I have been looking at are YankeeHill, GG&G and ARMS, any suggestions???

Thanks,

-Derek

Watch the Optics/Sights section on the Equipment Exchange on ar15.com

Used Troy rear buis show up from time to time for $100 or less. I got mine for $85, only had to clean the tan krylon paint off of it.

I like the Midwest Industries sight. It's on my SBR. Not super-flat but it flips well and is solid in the up position. About $100.

I have the ARMS #40a on my 5.56 upper. Very solid.

I have the GG&G MAD on my 6.8 upper. It, too, is solid and locks up well.

I almost bought the YHM buis instead of the GG&G (both at the gun show), but I was looking for a low profile one to fit under my scope. The YHM felt quite solid on the upper I mounted it to for evaluating.

I haven't had a chance to sight in the GG&G yet, so I honestly can't tell you. If I didn't need it to fit under a scope, I would have bought the YHM or the MI rear sight (I have the MI front flip sight, also). The big plus to the GG&G MAD is the same-plane dual aperture. You just turn the aperture a 1/4 turn and you have either the large or small aperture. When I get the opportunity to sight it in, I'll let you know how I like it.

The ARMS will fold down slightly if bumped, but it springs right back up, as it does not use a locking detent like the MI, Troy or GG&G. It uses a hook to hold it down, but spring tension to hold it up. This can be an issue when switching apertures. It is also easier to mount than the GG&G. The MAD needs to be raised to easily mount, as it tends to lay down more than 90deg, and it tries to press the base off of the rail until it is secured. Raising the sight makes this a non-issue.

The ARMS is grey, the GG&G is black, if color matching matters to you.
