Stinging feeling from the stock

I shot my AR-15 for the first time yesterday. I noticed a stinging sensation from the stock against my cheek. Is this normal? Anyone else get that? It's a regular 6 position stock.

No beard. My gf felt the same thing. I'm thinking it's just the impact of stuff inside the stock. I didn't feel it as much when don't press my cheek against the stock as hard. I'm just wondering if anyone else was getting something like it or if there might be an issue with my collapsible stock.

hmmmmm... I've got a CMMG that came with a 6 position stock, and have only had the problem with the facial hair. Not familiar with the Del-Ton. You've got me stumped

The only time I have a similar sensation was during skeet and trap shooting with my 11-87. The reason was from allowing the recoil to lift the bore quite a bit and "slam" the stock into my cheek. Try holding tighter with your support hand and pull tighter with your strong side into your shoulder. I wouldn't imagine a .223 having that much recoil as to hurting your cheek.

Could be powder flash.

If it is powder flash, you can buy a gas buster charging handle which helps minimize this, or make your own with black permatex gasket stuff for your car.
