it's pretty accurate, we were shooting tin-cans in the woods when i tried it, so i couldn't tell you what kind of groupings it was getting...

CTD is great, but they usually rape you in shipping... i find that if i'm going to buy a bunch of stuff and CTD has it, it's a better deal, but if i was going to buy just one item, i'll go somewhere else...

Barska Electro Sight Multi Reticle Red Dot Sight AC10632 w/ FREE UPS <- $75 + free shipping at optics planet. this would probably come out even or a couple bucks cheaper than CTD.

I've been looking too. These are my low cost candidates right now.

TruGlo Red Dot 30MM w/ FREE UPS TG8030C2 TG8030B2 TG8030B $70
BSA Optics 42mm Red Dot Sights w/ FREE UPS Riflescope Rifle scope $57

For just a little over $100 there's this one.
Tasco Propoint 1x32mm 5 MOA Red Dot Rifle Scope PDTS132 FREE SHIPPING 1x32 Sight Red-Dot Riflescopes 1 x 32 $109

I think you'll need a mounting piece still so that adds to the cost. This is why I'm leaning towards sticking with iron sights for now and just going for an EOTech or Bushnell later. If I'm not mistaken, those will be at the right height without an additional mounting piece.

I've got the Simmons 30mm red dot as a cheap one for now. While sighting in my irons sights last weekend, my wife wanted to shoot my AR. She's got a left eye dominance thing, so I put the red dot on it. Straight out of the box, she shot a 2" group at 25 yards (shooting a full 30 rounds) without me even adjusting it, or her ever shooting an AR before.

picked it up at MidwayUSA for $32

pretty impressed for the price
