Shopping Trip for first AR!!!!

I went on a shopping spree yesterday. Got myself a DPMS A2 Carbine. I was planning on getting a Bushmaster but the DPMS was a little cheaper and apeared to be the same quality. I also got one 30 round pre-ban mag (it came also came with two 10 rounders) I will go back and buy a bunch more as soon as I replenish my banking account. My Buddy got the bug, came with me and bought one too.

I only shot two 10 round mags when I got home but it shoots freakin sweet!!!!

All in all it was a great day. My buddy's wife is REALLY pissed and he is in the doghouse but she will get over it.

You should have seen the clerks face when we asked if he had two in stock. Suddenly the level of service went from friendly to very friendly.

I do not have a digital camera so I will have to just post a generic photo for now for you pic junkies. May be I can borrow one and try that later.

Sweet, it should serve you fine for your intended purpose now save up and deck that thing out the way that you want it.

the A2 Config is a pretty decent set. up on mine have my Red dot sight mounted on a Goose neck mount in the scout position since my rails are not free floating you can also mount it on top of the carry handle but you will not get a good cheek weld but then again thats really the point of Red Dots where ever the site is, is where the round hits you will just not be able to co witness with your backup iron sights which is really no big deal just zero them separately

he lives in NY and if he were a LEO he would not have been limited to the 10 rd mags or forced to buy Preban ones, its a 16" carbine so it wouldn't be a very good hunting rifle,

so reason of deduction would be he purchased a fine weapon for punching holes in paper or knocking down steet plates, and in the unlikely even that someone should break in to his home well i doubt the BG will care if the round is coming out of a DPMS or a Colt Dead is Dead, its kinda like Pistol Caliber wars i promise you if i shoot you 15 times with my 9mm you will be just as dead as if i shot you 13 times with my .40, 8 times with my .45

I'm really tempted to get one too. In my search, I ran into this ultimate AR Buyer's Guide.

Are you a LEO, if not while this FAQ offers a lot of good things to look for but is more so written for the guys that are going to carry their rifle daily, which would only be logical that they should put higher end parts on their rifle to increase its life, a reliable rifle is one that shoots when you pull the trigger. not one that has and extra 1500 worth of parts in it. if you have 2500 rifle and it is riddled with FTF, FTE Stove pipes, double feeds, short stroking, ect ect ect, i do not care how much you spent on it DO NOT TRUST YOUR LIFE WITH IT,

If you have a cheaper STAG, RRA, DPMS, BUSHMASTER, or OLY that fires every time you pull the trigger and hits the mark then well that is pretty much so the all important. especially if your really only interest in range shooting and light home defense,

all this Talk About SHTF situation is bunk none of our rifles will compare to sustained Automatic should any of us try and over throw the government or the government deciding that we are just not responsible for to own guns and they decided to come take them from our cold dead hands if they must.

the most any of us will likely every use our ARs for is moderate to light Home defense. and heck I don't tie my shoes with out a backup plan.
