Used to use CLP but started to use Gun Butter since I use it on my pistols.

I haven't had any issues so far and the pistols and rifles are way easier to clean.

Oil doesn't attract anything. If I pour oil on a flat surface, and then pour some dust next to it, the only dust that will get in the oil is what lands in the oil.. The oil doesn't have some kind of properties that work in any way to attract something to it. Being sticky, whatever lands in or on oil pretty much stays there. Motor oil is formulated for a very harsh environment, an internal combustion engine. It has detergents for some cleaning, it has additives for better lubrication, acid neutralization, metal preservation and corrosion protection, and is formulated to help protect against the harmful effects of dirt and soot.

How is any of this bad for AR's in any way?

I just got two bottles of gun butter for my pistols and I am extremely happy with the stuff. It seems like the slides got quieter and almost no friction when I put that stuff on them, very nice!

metal preservation and corrosion protection ummmm....no, at least not in the sense a gun needs

How is any of this bad for AR's in any way? You got a purolator on your AR anywhere?
There's a lot better choices out there that are designed for firearms, shoot it with that junk in there for a while and then look inside your magazines, your gas rings, and inside your chamber and then tell me motor oil is awesome.

I have only used motor oil to LUBE my guns. You mean there is actually stuff that cleans and lube your guns? Because if there is sign me up.

Normally my guns don't see more than 500 rounds before I clean. But I have gone in excess of 1000 before and had no issues using motor oil as a lube. I actually have to use some kind of solvent such as gun scrubber or break cleaner to clean my guns. Then again I have to do the same when I use CLP instead of motor oil. If you know of a secret thing that lubes and clean your guns, please let me know because I hate cleaning. Then again with brake cleaner, cleaning is pretty painless.

Thing with gun products such as lube and cleaners, they never list the incredients of what is inside the bottle, car stuff does. I betcha gunscrubber is just brake cleaner re-badge as "gun cleaner" and "gun lube" is probably just sewing machine oil or some other general purpose oil.

But I don't care what you use, just like you should not care what I use. It is our money so we should be able to use whatever we want.

I never said it was awesome, but we can all agree it's a lubricant. Considering we are talking about a gun designed with an operating system that ****s where it eats, I can't think of a single oil that will prevent carbon from getting in the action of an AR.

I've got about 1200 rounds through my bushmaster M4gery without any cleaning, and many of these rounds were Wolf brand. While dirty, everything is is fine running condition. This is using cheap Hoppes gun oil I've had sitting around for years, using it whenever things start to look dry. I'm pretty sure that damn near anything slippery, used enough, will keep an AR running, but the only thing that will keep it clean is not firing it.

Heck, use whipped cream often enough, and while it'd make a sticky mess, it could probably keep a good AR running.
