My first post and visit in the AR forum and now some pics of my Colt CAR-15 that I bought back in the early 80s (in California, no less). No forward assist. Everything stock except the rubber buttplate and a quick takedown action pin. Trigger pull has always been very hard, I guess Colt was trying to prevent some legal hassles of having too light of a trigger pull.

Never malfunctioned except for ammo related problems.

The 30 round magazine is a surplus Orlite from Israel.

man.. that is a very odd looking rifle..
not even a brass deflector on that

For easy identification of the M-16 family you can look for the following items.

The original M-16 had no forward assist, no brass deflector and a 3 prong flash suppressor and full-auto.

The M-16A1 added a forward assist and a bird cage flash suppressor. Still full-auto.

The M-16A2 added the brass deflector and closed the bottom of the flash suppressor and uses 3rd burst.

The M-16A3 is essentially a full auto M-16A2.

The M-16A4 has a flat top with a picatinny rail and uses 3rd burst.

6 position stock???? nope, it's just open or closed

Yep, the "2" position CAR stock that is worth some good $ now
