Newb with question..
I just purchased my first gun (XD9SC) in early February. I can't exlpain it but I am already trying to figure out what I want next. Heck, I haven't even gotten everything for my XD yet.
Anyways, I've been looking at AK's and AR's and want to get both before the elections etc. Do I feel I won't be able to get one after, who knows. Maybe I'm just telling myself that. I want to build one but it may be smarter for me to just grab a CMMG bargain bin rifle for my first build. My question is this: Can I make one of the CMMG bargain bin rifles look like this? Mainly the rails for accessories (if thats what its called).. but everything in general. ![]() (I took the picture from another thread. I believe it belongs to 'ARin'.) Thanks in advance |

Yep, for another 500 bones or so.
EDIT: I just noticed the flashlight and scope. Forget the 500 dollars thing. LOL

Yes, but would it be counter-productive in getting a CMMG bargain bin rifle and changing/upgrading parts?

Depends on how much cash you have now. They're not a bad deal, but they don't come with a magazine or a rear sight so you have to factor in the cost of those items as well as any other upgrades you want to add.
And ammo, too. Lots and lots of ammo.

I built mine from a Model 1 Kit, which is everything but the stripped lower, and I have spent probably around 1050 On My Entire Rifle so far. Pictures are deceiving on model 1's site, you can have what ever you want on it make it look any way you want. I used Essential Arms for my stripped lower receiver. This is probably the cheapest way I have found to get a good rifle with all the perks of a free floating rail system and such. Model 1 and Essential are good ole boy American made stuff too, I never had a problem talking with them on the phone. As a matter of fact I BSed with the guy who was puting together my upper rec. from Model 1 for a while (they come assembled and are good to go). So anyway theres my 2 cents check out the links, it's alot better than getting a basic DPMS or something for like $1100 when you can spend close to the same and be done. Except for the optics and other goodies that are sure to come....

I agree with Model1. I put together a parts gun, so that I would have everything to start with. I sure wish that I had a way to post a picture. Everyone that sees my rifle really likes it.
