Couple of Questions Before I Place The Order

I'm getting ready to order a stag lefty rifle but just want to make sure I do it right the first time. I'm looking at the model 3L which doesn't come with any sights. Would it be better to go this route or get the 2L? I plan on having some sort of optic but also want BUIS, like the flip sights made by M1. I kinda like the idea of being able to remove the front sight. Also what is a good price for 5.56 or .223 ammo? I can't think of anything else right now but any good tips are welcome. Thanks in advance.

What are your plans on upgrades if any ?

Myself I'd stick with the normal FSB on the 2L instead of the gasblock and no sights on the 3L. Also if you think you want railed handguards and can swing the extra $ upfront look at the 2TL with the Samson handguards already mounted on it for $200 more.

prices on .223/5.56 is running around and over 40 cents a round now

I've got the Lefty 2L. You've got the rail to mount optics, but also have the iron sights if you need them. Is no trouble to remove the rear if you want to mount a scope. The front sight does not get in the way.

i guess the 2L is the better deal, for a few doolars more i'd have sights. don't know about upgrades yet, though i'm sure sooner or later i'll be wanting to do something.
NC Dave how do you like the 2L? had any problems with it so far?

Not a one. I put about 1,500 rounds through it and have had 0 problems.

If you decide to mount a red dot optic such as an EOTech, you will either have to use a riser on your top rail to get the dot above the standard FSB or else co-witness with the front sight. I have a YHM FF handguard on my S&W with a YHM flip front sight and it allows me to go both ways. I don't like the clutter of the FSB in my sight picture or the extra weight of a rail riser.

Quite correct about the riser. I'd forgotten that I had even put that on when I mounted a scope.

Well I did it, ordered the 2L today. Should get it in a week. Paid $830, I don't guess thats to bad of a deal. About the risers, would I need a "see-thru" type to be able to use my BUIS?May be a dumb question but I'm new to the game. Also, who makes a good riser?

I was looking at some red dots today before I ordered. I"m not real sure if I will like or even use the red dot that much. Any good, yet inexpensive ones? I would like to get a decent one but not break the bank for something I may not use or like. THANKS!

No riser needed, when you "flip up" the rear sight it will be at the right height for the front sight.

Learn how to use the irons first, then when you have more experience you will know what type of optic you want to suit your style of shooting.

Congrats

+1.

Not a bad price. I paid $825 about a year ago to a guy on Guns America + the transfer fee to my local dealer.
