Since I am new to AR's I have some questions, as stupid as they are, please dont beat me up too bad.

In the picture below, what is that lever just above the trigger? I have seen this on some rifles but not others.

That's a Mega Machine Shop lower in the picture. A somewhat local manufacturer, at least in the same state, and they have a fine reputation, except for a small run that was machined out of spec, but they replaced everyone that was screwed up free of charge.
