I am right handed and left eye dominant. If this really does make a difference, I have never noticed. I have always shot my handguns with both eyes open, and rifles using my right eye and it works fine.

I never knew that since I can shoot with either eye as long as I close the other one. I can see the sights or in a scope with either eye.
Ocular dominance, sometimes called eye dominance or eyedness or seeing through the eye [1], is the tendency to prefer visual input from one eye to the other[2]. It is somewhat analogous to the laterality of right or left handedness; however, the side of the dominant eye and the dominant hand do not always match[3]. This is due to the fact that both hemispheres control both eyes, but each one takes charge of a different half of the field of vision, and therefore a different half of both retinas. There is thus no direct analogy between "handedness" and "eyedness" as lateral phenomena. Dominance from what I have known was nothing to do with focus, but a different field of view.

I like what Whatsisname said, being right handed and left eye dominant blows goats.
I have the same situation that Whatsisname has. It is almost impossible for me to hold my right eye open and left eye shut. It is no big deal on handguns, you just move the handgun to sight in from your left eye, but when you are trying to get your good eye on a rifle sight, it is a whole different deal. I am trying to shoot it left handed. |

Left Eye Dominant
Quote:
Cover You're left Eye shooting glasses with a black patch. HOWEVER, If You are Carrying Concealed and practicing the Combat courses I wouldnt suggest anything other than shoot the Course as you normally would due to the fact you're actually training for the eventuality of having to shoot in self defence and I think You're shooting would be reflex the type. Good Luck HRC |
