Quick barrel length question
For complete 16" uppers like https://www.lewismachine.net/product...ef125b273d5106 or http://www.rockriverarms.com/item-de...TOKEN=14448529 ,
Is it 16" and then the flash hider making it actually longer than 16" or is it a combined total of 16" WITH the flash hider installed? Thanks |

I believe it's the combination of the barrel and the flash hider has to be greater than 16".

The barrel length is 16", then the flash hider adds to it.
Legal length is 16",( without paying the SBR tax) if you go with a 14.5" + and a pinned and welded extended length flash hider it becomes part of the "barrel".

Thanks guys. So in reality its 16" PLUS 1-2".. So if I buy a 16" with a FH added, it's not going to be pinned in since it' still legal with the FH off.. right?

Hey guys, one more question..
If I were to purchase a 16" barrel to be cut down to about 13", what would be the ideal twist rate? 1/7 or 1/9? I plan on having a KX3 welded or pinned on to bump it back to 16". |

Depends on what type of ammo you are going to run, lighter bullets do better with 1/9 and the heavier with 1/7.

I'll probably run 55 or 62 99% of the time.
