that is the same here. I figure it will be the same as shotguns.
i will have to find a way to plug the mag.

looking at this http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MAG052-1532-1298.html , i am wondering if i could not just cut a magazine down to create a 5 rounder.

I got my first AR15 deer kill this year.I used my RRA entry tactical loaded with winchester 64gr power point bullets.I also shot my deer at 10yds from my treestand. The shot was aimed at her neck which dropped her on the spot.I shoot all year at my gun club so i'm confident of my shooting ability and only take good shots.

If you want to hunt with an AR, here is the guy to contact.
http://www.dtechsuperstore.com/mili%20Guns.htm
Ive talked to him on the phone and Ive read the reviews on his guns. Take a look at the calibers he offers in the AR platform.

These are not my guns but are examples of his.

I thought about the samething. I think .223 is probibly big enough for small deer, but where do you draw the line? I'd get a 6.5 or 6.8 upper. Then you can use the same lower receiver should you get a .223 upper down the road.

Damn! You killed Bambi! Were the woods out of adult deer? But the good thing is you can dress her out and put her in a gallon zip lock bag to pack her out.

That 64gr Power point must be the black sheep of the 223 family. I never hear about anyone actually using it! It is a great load and would be the only one I would use for anything the size of a whitetail within 100 yards. I found it to m=be very accurate at shorter distances and it fed just fine in my rifles.

Is it legal to use a mag that big? I've always thought there was a 5 round limit.
