Cool Thinking about purchasing an AR and need guidance.

I will be purchasing an AR or AR type rifle in the very near future and need a little guidance. Basically looking for a fairly priced, quality weapon with the ability to upgrade (sights, etc.). Ammo is also important, I need to be able to afford to shoot my purchase also. Any guidance, wisdom or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few rifles I am researching:

Rock River Arms - CAR A4 .223 Complete Rifle Kit w/ Chromed Barrel.

Bushmaster Carbon 15 M4 Carbine - .223/5.56

DPMS AP4 Panther Carbine.223 16in., A3 Upper, M4 Barrel w/Chrome Upgrade

Olympic K3B - Car16"

of your choices I'd pick the RRA, but keep researching...the RRA link is a "kit" you'll need a stripped lower receiver
Do you have a price limit in mind ?

or you could always go CMMG bargain bin. Ive heard lots of good things, and no loonger see Olympic in their Ad so you should be safe for a low priced first AR unless you want to buy a striaght new one

The RRA rifle sounds great with pretty much good reviews all around. I personally own a Bushmaster carbine (not the exact one in your link) and it's never failed me, I even bought it used for about $500 and it's functioned well.

I've heard more bad reviews than good reviews about DPMS and especially Olympic from people who have owned them, so I'm gonna go ahead and say to steer clear of them.

As far as the ability to be upgraded, AR's are amazing in that aspect, just make sure that you get one with a rail up top instead of a non-removable carry handle and you're all set! Both the RRA and Bushmaster you linked to fit the bill nicely.

I would say between $800.00 - $1100.00, depending on the frame of mind that the CFO (Wife) is in. Would like to purchase new ready to go out of the box, but will consider a used quality rifle.
