If I was on top of a Humvee in Iraq, I'd want the full auto power of "Ma Deuce" over anything else for self defense.

FA fire is extremely hard to control in a rifle and loses effectiveness quickly.. I'd much rather have a controllable 3 round bursting weapon than a FA rifle.

When you start talking about supporting weapons.. M243, M2, M60, PKM ect.. that's a whole other role and mission.. and not a weapon I expect to possess in America any time soon if ever.

I'd prefer the good old fashioned auto instead of 3 round.

Biggest reason is burst is about as limited as semi. With FA, you can choose to release the trigger between shot one or shot 30 or anywhere in between.

With enough use, you can move your finger quick enough to release in a short 3 round burst if no more is needed. But if they are needed, you won't get them quickly enough from one pull with a burst pack. Not to mention the pesky fact of having to set the trigger group on a burst pack if you pull and shoot one or two rounds per pull when on the burst setting (talking M16 burst here folks). That's just annoying.

The Army is currently trying to design a replacement for the venerable M-2 and for the life of me I can't figure out why. They say they want more accuracy and lighter weight. What they don't realize is that any weapon built that heavy and firing that many rounds per minute is not a sniper rifle and is not meant to be hand carried any farther than the nearest vehicle or firing position. Any weapon firing a round that powerful that is built light enough to be easily carried will break down much to soon because it cannot absorb the punishment.

If you've ever shot one you know what true power is. If you've been unfortunate to be on the receiving end, you know what true fear is. At least until you get hit with a .50 round. At that point, fear is something for the living and not for you because you're dead.

Deadly, awe inspiring, and built to last and operate under extreme conditions. There's a reason it's been in service since the 1920's
