Stripped Lowers - Houston

Well, I feel like I'm already addicted to building AR's just from researching how to do it and what to buy. Now it's time to start building. I'm limited on funds so first I'm going to just get a stripped lower. Does anybody here know any shops that sell stripped lowers in the Houston area? I love going in and looking at them rather than buying online. If I could find an awesome deal online then that works too but am willing to pay a little more to buy it in person.

Essential Arms for $77. It's not local, but the price makes it well worth buying online. Even with an FFL transfer fee it is still cheaper than you'll find local.

There's a gunshow in Conroe this weekend. You might find something there........

How hard is it to build your own? I'm interested, but I've heard that it's much easier to build one if you have an assembled one to compare it to...

well getting the lower together could be kinda tricky the first time, personally for #1 I'd say get an assembled lower.

follow these instructions

and this video

Take your time, don't hurry, small parts will "fly away" never to be seen again until you buy replacements

I've built 6 lowers.......it gets easier each time, but you still have to be careful

I have built several lowers on my own. Use a good lower parts kit such as RRA, LMT, or Stag and use lots of electrical tape to prevent scratches to the receiver. The only tools you need is a set of brass punches (I bought mine off Ebay for $6), a hammer, and a set of pliers. As the other person said, follow the directions, which are VERY easy to follow, and you're all set....
