As for the lubrication. The AR design needs it. It is a piston in a sleeve. Would you run your car without oil, or minimal oil? I know I would not expect my truck to go too far. What I do is give it a light coating where it needs it, and then when I get to the range I give it a couple of squirts through the bolt holes in the carrier. Every 500 or so, if it is a long day, I will give it another squirt.
+1 Don't need to remove all carbon from the bolt tail. Don't buy the army "white glove" crap.

No offense taken by either of the two of you. And kudos to you Cartman for having the "good" ammo for shtf sitches! And as far as having rifles, I got plenty! And I don't have to shoot Wolf to get rifles. And I would like to add that I'm not an elitest. Of course I know I may have started a pissing match about Wolf ammo, but let me make myself clear ONE MORE TIME! If you shoot Wolf ammo you will have problems. It has been beaten to death here and on AR 15.com and many other sites as well. Like I said, if you shoot Wolf and have problems, it's a 99% chance that it is the ammo. You come to my place and shoot my reloads (which you are more than welcome to (and I mean it) anytime)that more than likely cost less than your Wolf ammo and I garantee you will have no FTF or FTE. My buddy tried to convince me to shoot Wolf but his rifle kept kcuhping up and I told him it was the ammo. I got him reloading his own ammo and 'Viola, no problems. Happy shooting and reloading!

Point is I already saved enough money to buy a new upper. And my rifle is still going. I know I will probably have to replace the $13 extractor recently, but has not happpend yet.

I bought Wolf when it was $160 shipped. Even $240 these days is still a pretty good deal. As for reloading, how long does it take you to do 1000 rounds? 10 hours? How much is your time worth to you? and reloading these days is not cheap either. The brass alone seems to run the same price that Wolf goes for.

I only wished you would have told others that Wolf is junk. Because it seems to be out of inventory a lot, and each time it comes back price goes up.

So please pass the word.. "Wolf is junk"

I personally thank you for doing this.

I think too much cleaning is bad too. One thing I would recommend is a one piece barrel rod. The ones where you have to put together has rough edges at the joining points that could screw up a barrel. Aslo when cleaning the barrel you want to go with the rifling, so therefore you push the cleaning rod from the receiver side. If you push from the other side (the Flash Hider side), it will take my pressure to exert and it is possible to bend the rod and for it to scratch the barrel.
Miltary cleans their weapons everytime after firing not only to clean but to check for broken parts and fuction of internals. Lives depend on servicable rifles

I was in for 4 years. Not only did we cleaned our rifles after every range session, but also probably about another 50 times between range sessions.

I don't even remember checking for broken parts either, and don't remember my peers doing it either. For the most part, we cleaned our rifles for the heck of it.. Like when we got a new Battalion Commander or something like that. I think for the AR, whatever comes first between: every 500 rounds or every 2-3 range sessions, is more than plenty.

It takes me about 2.5 hours to reload 1000 rounds. My time is free as I do it for the fun of it, besides the savings. Brass cost is small over time since you can reload it a number of times. I use blasting bullets, and I have match bullets. For blasting ammo, subtracting the brass cost ( I bought carloads of the stuff at $14/1000 around '9, runs me about $120/1000. FWIW, if I am going to be shooting where I can't get my brass back, I shoot Wolf..

I've never bought brass and only bought maybe 200rds. loaded ammo (all brass cased) over the years and I have three 5 gal. buckets of brass. As stated above, I too enjoy reloading. Bullets are cheap when you buy thousands at time. Wolf ammo is going up in price because brass cased military ammo is in short supply and people not in the know that do not reload are beginning to buckle and buy inferior ammo. I guess if you aren't willing to invest in reloading equipment and learn how to do it, your only choice is Wolf or the high priced left-over military ammo. You've made your choice and are paying the price with FTF and FTE. Oh well, at least I can reload. Oh and I forgot to mention the amazing filth Wolf ammo leaves in your weapon, I'm sure you've noticed that! Happy shooting!

But I don't have problems with FTF or FTE problems with Wolf.

Also I do have re-loading equipment... and I have a friend that gets reload components in bulk and does group buys. On his next group buys I plan to get enough for 5k rounds. This is where re-loading is a benifit to me, instead of paying $2 per round for Gold Medal Match, I get it at about 40 cents per round if I reload.

But for plinking ammo, nothing beats Wolf.

And..... yes Wolf does get dirty, but it takes the same amount of time to clean as when I use regular ammo. Blast my guns with Non Chlorinated Brake Cleaner liberally and it takes everything off.

Once again I want to thank you for not using Wolf, only thing I ask of you is that you spread the word that "wolf is junk" so you can leave more for me.

Thanks again.

Yeah I only have about 4k of Wolf left too.

It is painful to pay over $200 for it but even worse for $400+ for 556.

I am gonna buy enough components to load about 2500 rounds anyway.

BTW do you only use the non-chloro brake cleaner on all metal stuff or also plastic?
