I have heard things like what you have said ... "minimal oil" and I have heard be "liberal at the lugs" in terms of lubrication. Your thoughts .....

I am sure that this will start a pissing match. You do not need to get every piece of carbon off the bolt tail that exists. Just clean it with a brush and solvent and go on. If you want to clean every bit of carbon off, there are several ways to do that. One is chemically and the other is with a brass scraper. I just use a brush and regular solvent. What comes off is ok, what stays is ok.

As for the lubrication. The AR design needs it. It is a piston in a sleeve. Would you run your car without oil, or minimal oil? I know I would not expect my truck to go too far. What I do is give it a light coating where it needs it, and then when I get to the range I give it a couple of squirts through the bolt holes in the carrier. Every 500 or so, if it is a long day, I will give it another squirt.

Hey Cartman, my rifle will shoot Wolf ammo all day long until the extractor breaks! But I won't! I paid good money for my gun and I ain't gonna abuse it for no good reason. If you're too cheap to run good ammo through your gun, then get used to FTF and FTE! It's your gun, do what you want! I however will not use inferrior ammo in and excellent gun and then hit the boards with "I just can't understand why my gun is such a P.O.S.! Happy shooting!

Wow the extractor broke. A piece that cost $13.00 broke! Darn how are you going to replace it? I have shot ~2000 rounds of Wolf through one AR and no broken extractor. If it does break, I have no problem forking out the $13.00.

I shot ~3000 rounds of Wolf already through 2 AR's. Let see:
- 3000 rounds of Wolf for today's prices is $600.
- 3000 rounds of Igman M855 is $1200.

That means I already saved enough to buy another upper. And maybe some extra extractors too If you don't want to shoot Wolf, then it's cool. Just leaves more for me. I am getting low. Got less than 4k rounds of Wolf now.

This is basically what I've been doing anyway. I was responding to Smoke_Works comment that you couldn't find "spec one of carbon or dirt" on his AR. I was thinking that it would take a lot of time to get my AR as clean as that .... and therefore my question. As for me I give my AR a thorough cleaning every 500-700 rounds. In between it's a pass or three of the bore snake and quick brush of the bolt and some FP-10 as needed.

Yes Cartman, you can have all the cheap Wolf ammo that I won't shoot. And $13 for an extractor does not worry me either. But in SHTF when your cheap ass Wolf breaks your extractor and your ass gets all shot up, I'll send you the $13, K? And your pics. of all your ammo may impress a younger man but to me it only shows how threatened you are by logic. The fact that you think you need to "show and tell" shows weakness to me. Sorry Son, try again!

Jamming AR

After trying different ammo I would contact Bushmaster and tell them that you may have a gas leak. No pun intended. One of mine is a Predator from Bushmaster and that is what was wrong with mine. It was not jamming, but in fact short stroking. Try getting a bolt assembly from another gun and see if it still does this, and if it does then you sure have a gas leak. Good luck.

If in a SHTF situation all you have is your AR and no spare parts and no other weapons, you've got other problems. And sorry, we all can't be elitists like you and only shoot top of the line ammunition from our ARs which have no problem shooting the obviously inferior Wolf anyway.

I was not trying to impress you, just trying to show you I regularly shoot wolf. I use my Wolf for the range. What makes you think I have Wolf loaded for when SHTF? Not that I would not trust wolf, it is just I don't find it all that accurate and it is a little underpowered. When the SHTF, I have about 400 rounds of Prvi M193, 700 rounds of Guat M193, and 1k of Igman M855.

And while you are stuck with that one AR, I will have 3 or 4 with the money I saved by shooting Wolf at the range.. to go along with my extra complete Bushmaster Bolt

Not trying to insult you one bit, I don't ever insult anyone how they want to configure their rifle or what ammo they use. I just want to thank you for not using Wolf, it is because of people like you is why people like me can easily find Wolf.

Thanks again.
