No but using a gas piston instead of blowing gas directly into the chamber area it does not get dirty nearly as fast. I like the standard M4 but it craps where it eats so to speak. Direct gas guns are like that. They take the gas and push it directly into the bolt carrier to run the gun. That puts a lot of gunk inside the reciever. A gas piston gun does not. They run cleaner and cooler. You can fire a lot more rounds before a cleaning is needed with a gas piston design. Most military rifles employ gas pistols except the AR15 M4 series. For example the M14, AK 47, HK rifles ect all use gas pistons.

Not knocking his talents or experience but would you expect him not to endorse it knowing this? The big question here, is the 416 any better than any other piston driven engine? If so, how and where?

Army guy,
It would seem to clean the gunk in the piston area, a field strip would be in order

XCR's are just as accurate as AR's
XCR's barrels are easy to swap out (just an allen bolt) XCR's has multi caliber capabilities (just a bolt swap and quick barrel change) XCR's has an integrated one peice rail upper XCR's kicks less than AR's XCR's runs a lot cooler and a lot cleaner because of the piston XCR's are $1400 Why do I want an HK 416? |

Agreed When your life may be on the line is it worth another $1000? I would say yes.
