Cheaper Red Dot

So I posted this on Ar15 and got no response. But these two scopes did get decent reviews on Ar15.com (which says something with the snobs over there) and I can't decide which. Anyone have any experience with either the SPOT Mark III or the Bushnell MP Trophy??

The Truglos don't get good reviews and I don't want to spend the money on an Eotech, Aimpoint or ACOG.

The SPOT is GTG
I have one on one of my carbines.
There was a multi page torture test on the SPOT on ar15.com but it is in the archives now, and unless you are a paying member you can't access it.

There was a used one in the ar15 EE a couple days ago for $100.
Don't know if it is still available.

Mike

Not to hijack a thread, but the SPOT MkIII seems to be very similar to the Tasco ProPoint 1x32 mm. Both, of course, are clones of the Aimpoint.

I've heard good things about the SPOT, and about the same amount of good about the Tasco (available for $110 at OpticsPlanet.com).

I personally will put the Tasco on my SKS build as soon as I get the $$.

As with anything not built for military use (ie to be abused and then counted on when life is on the line), YMMV.

You keep telling yourself that

Fricken EOTech's are like an addiction! I know a guy that has 5 512's for sale for under $325 ea. Oh the temptation

... Anyway.. I started with the SPOT red dot's and they are GTG, especially if you're looking to figure out which of the two real ones you may want to invest in down the road. Hell I have my last remaining one on my 9mm AR and it's deadly accurate.

Watch EE on BARFCOM ... er I mean ARFCOM and you can generally get them with a mount for less than $100.. but you have to watch for them, they sell super fast.
