At the time when I bought my SPOT MkIII (used for $65 ) it came with a mount. If you decide to buy one and it doesn't come with a mount, let me know....I have a few extra cantilever mounts that will work.

It's all good info though. Problem is if I spend my money on one of the big ones I have nothing left for ammo

So, does the SPOT co-witness without a riser or does it need a lift due to the front sight post??

How about the Bushnell?? Need a riser?

This is for a flat-top Stag by the way.

So I'll need a cantilever put on top of my carry handle? I just cant remove the handle and put the scope on the upper?

I didn't need a riser for my Bushnell, it seemed to fit like a glove. For me at least...and I don't have a front sight....

I am FULLY aware that there is ALOT of crap out there. If I wanted crap I would spend $50-60 on a piece of crap. However, I want a mid-grade that has had decent reviews for the $150-$165 range.

If we all bought the best available, we'd all be shooting HK's, Kimbers and Colts, but most here went mid-grade and bought an XD.

I know there are "better" choices than the two I asked about, but as someone else said, I am a paper puncher and not out to use my scope to save the planet.

Carry on!
I like high end guns.

Wilson Combat CQB

Colt 6920

14 inch Vang Comped 870

GA Precision AR10

Bowen Custom converted Ruger Redhawk.

I have a lot of other guns but these are some of the more expensive and they run well.

I realize that not everyone can afford the very best but you should at least buy quality products. The cheapest I would go would be the Eotech. You can get them for close to $300 if you shop around for a used 512.

I have a 557 with a 4x magnifier on order. Optics are expensive thats just a fact of life.

OK......

there are 2 types of co-witness

1. absolute......where the rear sight, red dot, front sight all line up,the dot "sits" on the tip of your front sight.
2. lower 1/3...where the rear and front sight are in the lower 1/3 of your field of vision. The red dot "sits" above your front sight.

looks like the bushnell has a built in base so no other mount is needed.

Ah I got it. The cantilever is so the scope will mount higher than the front sight. I forgot about that.
