Buis

Other than the chop your carry handle thread I haven't seen much on Back Up Iron Sights(BUIS)

I want to replace the Tactical Carry handle in my Entry Tactical, and an optic is in the near future.

I keep coming back to the A.R.M.S. units

What is everyone running?
How do you like it?
Do they hold a zero?

any thoughts?

I have the A.R.M.S. it's fine, holds it's zero. I'm getting rid of it though because I wanted the RRA dominator2 Eotech mount. I wanted to protect the rail on my upper, and I found I prefer the traditional A2 rear sight, over the flip-ups.

If you haven't read it, here's a ton of info on BUIS: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=206233

If you decide to go with the A.R.M.S. let me know I can make you a deal on mine.

It's the older 40, not the LP 40 they have. If I can't get rid of it I'll just hang onto it for a long range build I'm considering. But if I can sell it and offset the cost of the dominator mount that would be nice too.

The best BUIS is the Troy, IMO. It is a same plane BUIS, and runs about $140. I also like the Midwest Industries BUIS. It's about $45-50 less than the Troy, and not same plane, but it is sturdy and easier to adjust for windage, due to the A2 style knob. The Troy unit requires a bullet tip or tool to depress the detent and adjust. I have both, and I like them better than any other BUIS on the market.

I'm running both the Troy and ARMS #40L-SP (low profile same plane) The Troy is superior by far, but the ARMS isn't bad if you're not knock down doors or diving in the dirt too often. You can fine the Troy's for about $120 on ARFCOM the ARMS for about 100 or some times 90. Both work, hold their zero and aren't in the way of optics.

OK let me ask you this........what type of optic/mount ?

Knowing this will help deciding what type of BUIS would be best.

Well that is another issue

when I say optic I (at this time) mean red dot eotech or Aim Point 1x

I do have interest in a something up to a 4x acog, but not at this time

OK I like the chopped carry handle behind a Aimpoint, but not an EoTech.
I like an uncluttered, absolute co-witness sight picture with the Eo.
Same with the Aimpoint unless it is raised up to 1/3 lower co-witness and I'm looking over the top of the BUIS.

so the eotech will co witness with front post if mounted directly to flat top

if so then a lowprofile buis behind the eotch in case the sight goes down
