i was going do do a simple build with a cheap flip up sight when i read about some AR owners chopping their carying handles and creating a neat little attachable sight...anybody else do this is it worth cutting up a carrying handle?

There is a great tutorial on how to do that on AR15.com. I believe it's a sticky.

He makes more money than I do or we'd be in a race

I'm not sure I'm a fan of this mod but then again I like the low profile BUIS setups. I can see where this makes sense to a lot of folks, but the price for a good BUIS isn't too much so I'll stick with the LP series BUIS for my AR's.

Pro's:

Cool DIY project
Money already spent so no additional cost
Functional
Great for co-witnessing with a CQB optic

Con's:

Snag factor with the mounting
Takes up more rail space
Fixed positioning and hight may preclude any use of a typical optic beyond a CQB optic

Just my ever so humble thoughts

I'm still learning

It seems to be a popular mod and has a market LMT, DPMS, and others make a version of this.

I like this style of sight behind an Aimpoint, but I prefer a fold down behind my EoTech since it has more than a "dot".

I have 6 AR's and a 7th started, each is a carbine but different from the last.

#7 will take a little longer now...just spent the $ for the lower on this ACOG TA50-2

it should be in my hot little hands Wed/Thurs

The whole build just changed, this is the LMT upper I posted about a few weeks ago. Have a LMT buis on the way for it to go with the Aimpoint but now that buis won't work with the ACOG.
