I got a Midwest Industries bolt on rail that just bolts into the holes that I mounted my 951 on to. Only thing is that it isn't long enough for the surefire and VFG.

After I got this light I was playing around with it (it came before the gun did) when my roomate walked in and got flashed with it. We'll say that 65 lumens is definitely effective enough. ETA: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...eitemid=744914 That's what I've got. I only wish it were about 1-1.5" longer.

I dont remember where I got mine but I picked up a screw on rail that bolts right to my handgaurds and then a .45 degree offset. I then put my Surefire G2 in a 1" scope ring and mounted it. It works great and if I remember right, I have less than $30.00 in it.

this is a new mount available from Brightflashlights.com
Elzetta ZFH1500 hooks up to most flashlights and costs less than 30 bucks. |

Look, I like SureFire, they make a great product and they believe that as well, their prices tell you so. I'm not crazy about spending a hundred (much less 2-400) bucks on a friggen flash light. But I gotta say, I love the SF lights I have and all those maglites I've bought over the years are sitting in a storage bin or kids toy box because of the G2's.

You can "ghetto" rig it with some plastic zip ties. (black ones, of course to match your rifle)
I mounted my streamlight on a quad rail and that works too.

I don't really know anything about ARs, but in reading the link about the ILM posted by Stu, the positioning of the light seems to be the most logical for the reasons given. It certainly seems better than having it on the left or right side.
I would think it would be more important for the reasons given, for a SWAT team or military, but hey, who knows what will happen to the "common" civilian in certain situations. |

I've made it a point to have at least one light mounted on one AR for the last geezzz 9 years. I've tried a few different configurations and for me, mostly because of the way I sling my AR's, I found that a forward, right side rail mounted light works best. I don't like the leftside (inside for me) mounting because it tends to snag on things more when I don't have hands on the weapon and it's hanging free on the sling.
Ah well, that won't work the same for all and this is the wonderful thing about the AR.. options, options, options
