My Holosight uses the N batteries and eats them in 8 hrs or less The Radio shack n's are gone in 6. Thats why I took it off my shotgun, nothing worse than not getting a shot at a deer because your sight is dead.

Call EOTech.. that is uncharacteristic behavior. I haven't had any issues with my 552, but I've been slowly switching all of my batteries to either CR123's or Lithium Ion AA's.

EoTech battery drain

My 511 batteries died while in storage, too, so I got suspicious and hooked up a digital multimeter.

My EoTech 511 draws about .06 milliamps while supposedly turned "off". That is why it's killing batteries.

If you want your EoTech batteries to last, remove them when you're not using it.

You should remove batteries from ALL devices that are being stored for long periods. If they're alkaline, they could also leak and foul the terminals.

that is why firearm devices run on alkaline cells are on my no-go list. An aimpoint will stay in the ON position for 5 years straight (even more depending on model). to me, this makes eotechs completely obsolete.

i have had three different N batt EO's that all ate batteries while in storage. I said "nuts to that" several years back, and sold all my EO's. In fact, my dads 511 came out of the safe dead just a few days ago.

unacceptable for an item that sits atop something that may be called into action at a moments notice.

not N size lithiums..dont exist.

and even lithiums dont negate the fact that the EO draws a significant amount of current even while "off".
