Okay, I didn't really read through the whole thing, so please forgive me. I just wanted to comment on the ACOG! If you get one, you will like it! The one below is a 1.5X magnified mini-ACOG on a Larue mount. I would love nothing more than to get a hold of a full sized 4X ACOG.

Agreed, I'm rather pleased with the two optics I bought for less than a single ACOG, hell even after adding the LaRue Po-Boy magnifier I'm $100-300 under the cost of a decent ACOG.
Still, they are nice and if you can afford it, very cool.

When it comes to this kind of thing I don't worry so much about the guy seeing the stuff so much because I've seen him. I always ask names and such. Just in case something does happen, I got something to go on. The thing that worries me is the guy (probably a decent guy and would never steal a thing) telling the story to all the guys at work or on poker night. Then some POS looks up where they were that day and does the deed. You ( or the cops) can still figure it out but it makes the job that much harder. I keep my stuff outta sight.
