anyone have a S&W M&P 15
just wondering if anyone here has one and how you like it, I was looking as a bushmaster AR at my local store and seen the S&W right beside it, it costs a little more but I like the way it looks, just wondering it it shoots as good as it looks.

Funny you should ask... I just brought one home yesterday - Tactical Model, late Sept. 2007 Build Date.
It's certainly well put together, if quality is in question. I'm sure there are much better complete rifles out there and even more '3rd party assemblies' for the money, but it's just what I ended up choosing and I'm very happy with it. I have a few friends & LEO Friends who own Bushmasters and they shoot excellent. To be honest, you really can't go wrong with either the Bushmaster with it's proven track record & great options or with the Smith & Wesson M&P15 line - they're both equally accurate and have great QC.

I have a M&P15A (Flattop with flip up rear site). I absolutely love mine and the fit and finish are great. As you can see from the photos though, I have accesorized it slightly. Wonderful rifle!

I've got a 15A & have had problems with a lateral shift of POI depending on how hot the barrel was. I'm talking about a 3 to 4 inch spread at 50 yards. I just rebarreled it with an 18" CMMG SPR mid-length barrel & I'm waiting for some good weather to check it out at the range. I dumped the 6 position stock for an A2 with a DPMS 1" extension. The rest of the gun is run of the mill AR.

Well... since folks are postin' pics & gettin' into mods.. I'll bite - why not, eh?
Here's a shot from this past Sunday when I brought it home (bone stock). The shop couldn't locate the included S&W Rail Covers, so they're ordering a fresh set from the factory for me. ![]() I've since then - 2 days later, right?

Nice. Im retrospect, I wish I had shelled out the extra bucks for the "T" model. But the county doesn't pay me that much and I had to eat a lot of Ramen noodles to get ny "A" model. Eventually there will be a railed fore-arm on mine and hopefully a can.

Ranger, I hardly think the lack of a rail makes that piece of yours any less badass than it already looks.
BTW, what's that little ambi-thingamajig over your trigger for?

are those the FF rails. Quote:
i belive you can get the YHM from Del-ton.com for around $139 + $8 shipping. if you know how to remove the delta ring they are suppose to be fairly easy to install. not sure if you will need to replace the gas block or no not though. the sure fire rails are around $200 at least here in a few months you get to write 100% of that bad boy off on your taxes

I like them alot but - for me - rails are rails, and as long as they're decent quality & build, the brand didn't really matter, these just happened to come stock w/ my AR. I'll tell you though that the S&W-branded ones have a smoother finish (on the entire rifle, not just rails), so it may not be as scratch-resistant than Troy's standard offerings. A friend of mine has a Bushy with the Daniel Defense ones and all sorts of do-dads stuck on it and they're real sweet too, he likes them a bunch.
