Yeah, get a vertical grip. Holding the handguard like that is awkward anyway. Using a vertical fore-grip feels much more natural

Outstanding trade! Welcome to the AR world.

Buy more ammo - you will need it.

Apparently, you really DON'T know much about ARs. I own a Bushy Shorty. Made the mistake of shooting it a couple of times outside without ear protection. Will never be dumb enough to repeat that mistake.

Maybe your hearing's already shot. I guarantee you that short-barreled AR is plenty loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss.

Rotate your wrist as described or use the mag well as a poor mans VFG.. get some gloves though. Also, as noted, shorten the stock by a notch or two, role your shoulders forward and hunch over the stock some more... you'll be faster on return to target.

And do what ever the hell you want with your ears and eyes man.. lord knows I had enough years in rock bands and with the Artillery to have screwed myself already.

Get a stock saddle.

When you get into shooting position you can slide the right side of your face down it until your cheek bone has a snug fit.

Like the others have said you need to get your nose closer to the charging handle and the saddle will help get your face lower.

That makes your face position the same everytime so your shooting is more consistent.

Now buy some ammo and shoot the hell out of it.

You are now infected with the BRD disease

That answer deserves each and every member of this board to dogpile on your *ss.

Eye and ear pro is necessary. If nothing else, it portrays an image of gun owners as being responsible.

The AR-system vents live gas to the rear portion of the weapon. Normally, this is perfectly safe, unless something bad happens. For this, eye pro is "a good thing".

put a rail adapter on your stock hand guards or put a railed system on your rifle.

you can get several different kinds unless your competition shooting a snap in system is fine and can be had for around $100 a Vertical Forgrip will run as little as $10 to as much as $100+ depending on whos name is on it.

if i have mis read the question then please disregard.

Been there, done that.........A piece of picatinny rail bolted to the bottom of the plastic handguard is not very stable and will twist. Do it right and buy a railed handguard.
