RRA or Stag
I don't want to start a pissing war here. I am getting an upper within the next week and most likely am ordering a RRA CAR-A4 or Stag 2H. I want the 1:9 barrel, so that kicks out most of the "upper-end" kool-aid brands. I even spoke with Pete at AR15sales.com about the LMT upper and he said he sends more of those back for repairs than he does RRA. Anywho, what is everyone's opinions here that has a Stag or RRA?
Again, Colt, LMT are probably out. I would prefer the 1:9 barrel and my budget won't allow me to get a Colt. Thoughts? Thanks.

Its probably a toss up but I REALLY like my RRA and will be buying another upper from them soon.

Good past experience is good to hear. Thanks for the info ichy. Any problems with dremeled feed ramps or improperly staked carrier keys? I think I have been reading too much from some of the people on ar15.com.

About on parity with each other all things being equal. I've got both, don't notice any specific differences out of the box, they both work well and meet the needs I have. I don't guess that's much help.. what else did Pete tell ya?

No that does help. Thanks.
I had also asked him about the "FSB" problem that Stag had at the end of last year, early part of this year. He said that was a problem with the barrels or receivers that some people were getting but that it was no longer a problem. Anyone else have any negative or positives to either?

I have a RRA upper, thoroughly pleased. Gas key is properly staked, staked castle nut, true M4 ramps....
All of which the kool-aid drinkers refuse to acknowledge

I'm not sure if it's standard on all their uppers or not.
This was on my first EBR and I didn't know anything about such things till after the fact. I kinda felt let down that I had a sub-standard weapon until I started investigating the one I had, and found that it did in fact have all the "coolness" that the stupid chart (I think everyone knows which chart I'm talking about) says it didn't have

There's a lot of good information on m4carbine.net. There's the chart that lists all the major manufacturers and who has what and there's a thread with pics about M4 feed ramps, proper "staking", etc. that illustrates all this with real pictures of real guns. Everyone is drinking something. If it's not kool aid it's hawaiian punch, so take what we all say with a grain of salt and add that with all the research you can do and you'll be happy with what you choose.
