What's with the M16 BCG?

What's the mechanical difference between that and the AR BCG? I was looking at the LMT website and both have virtually identical product descriptions and prices. Is it stronger since it is designed for F/A fire?

There are three different designs of the BCG: M16 AR15 and some type of hybrid design.

The AR and hybrid version are machined more along the bottom than the M16 BC to assure that if an autosear were ever installed, it would never properly trip.

The only real advantage of having an M16 BC is if you happen to have a SBR, the heavier bolt will ever so slightly help keep things in time

Quarter bore has a page that shows some of the difference between AR15 and M16 bolt carriers.

Got it, thanks gang. Thanks Krackels the graphs always help.

Sounds like for all practical purposes the M16 BCG really makes no material difference in the functionality of a commercial AR.
