The French trade gun in this picture is a "Tulle" they named them by the town in France where they were made. This one is a replica that I put together a few years ago to get involved with some buddies in French Indian War re-enactment. The experience of shooting one these is great and love to take it out often. With Black powder though the fun is over at cleaning time. The gun itself is a trade gun that would have been manufactured around 1750 or so and used right into the American Revolution. This one of course is a flintlock musket (no rifling) in 0.62 caliber and uses a patched round ball. Personally would not have wanted to fight a war using one of these. If you have never had the pleasure of shooting one of these look up some of the black powder clubs sometimes and try it out.
