97th Signalman, How do you like this scope set up? I just ordered a carry handle mount from Midway. I got a 4X Leupold laying in the gun safe that I'd thought I'd put on my Colt AR. Seems like it would be kinda high but for $10.00 I'd figured I'd give it a try.

It's a little high but it's OK. A couple of the various mount rails that I tried were a little crappy...one had loose fit in the in the carry handle slot and another had out of tolerance picatinny slots and the rings wouldn't fit right. I bought a quality mount rail from Smith Enterprises and it worked fine.

The Scope is a Burris Short Magnum (now sold under the name "Fullfield")fixed 4 power with a fairly long eye-relief so it works well at several different stock length settings. Obviously the flat top mount on my

The Bushmaster Varminter works out a whole lot better but I knew that going in. The Varminter is a 300 yard rifle and the carbine isn't so I am wiling to accept the limitations.
