Here's an old pic of my Bushmaster pre-ban M4gery.

Now that I've accumulated all of the handguns that were on my short-list to buy, I think I may start modding the Bushmaster. I want to add a quad-rail fore stock to it, a red dot sight of some sort, flip-down BUIS to co-witness with the red dot and maybe a better, metal rear stock.

My wife really enjoys shooting this rifle. A lot. Too much, in fact. She shoots up all of my .223 every time we go to the range with it.

Nice looking rifle. I am about finished with my Colt 6920 M4. I put on an EoTech 552, Larue Free Float Forearm, YHM flip up BUIS rear sight. Tango Down Rifle & Vertical grips and Magpul ladders. I just ordered the Magpul CTR stock, it should be here Friday. Only thing left is a weapon light. The light is a pretty penny but am thinking 9V LED from SureFire. I like to spotlight and shoot rabbits at night. Got to be able to see them......

I'm about $800 into mods already and started converting it this past summer. I really like the Larue Forearm it is solid. I get an awesome co-witness with the EoTech, fixed front sight and YHM Rear BUIS.

My next project is going to be a precision stock for my other Colt 6551 A2 Gov then mount a scope on it. Either that or see if I can get a Colt A4 upper then mount the scope on the rail.

Almost forgot don't forget to get a good sling.... I got a Viking 2 point sling. Get it from Larue it has the back side padding. I've got the same sling just no padding.

Thanks for the information, Broadside. I had already tagged a YHM BUIS for the rifle in my wishlist. Any thoughts on the YHM forearms? They seem to be more cost effecient than others that I've seen w/o going polymer.

Love the look of that Viking sling. Will definitely have to research that!

I don't have any experience with YHM forearms. My thoughts were I'm going to buy the best quality parts I could find for the purpose of not wanting to replace them later. So I did some research and the Larue forearms looked to be the very best and had the best reviews. Mine is solid and the screws won't back off. I like having the swivel sling point on the forearm and off the barrel. I left the factory sling point on the barrel in case I want to change slings. Most of the other forearms don't have a sling mount. I didn't want a single point sling. I've seen too many people get racked by their own firearm while trying to move / do other things. So I opted for a 2 point sling.

I have read about problems other people have had with other vendor products. I don't remember if YHM was one of them or not.

If you are going to mount a sight or scope on the forearm I would go with Larue. If you are just going to mount mods like vertical grip or light you are OK to go with a 2 piece or other vendor forearm IMO. I would check ARFCOM and see what other products people are using and recommend. Daniel Defense is popular and cheaper but doesn't have the sling point.

A good guy to call is Grant @ www.grtactical.com he used to have his own M4 forum now he uses http://www.m4carbine.net/ and knows the scoop on the best products. He will give you some solid advice based on what you want to do.

I'll get pics of mine posted when I get the CTR stock on. I'm hoping it will be this weekend.

I know this is a picture thread, but I don't know where else to ask. The past couple days have really sold me on an AR. At this point, Packerfan's is the most appealing to me, I'd like mine to (ultimately) have those features. Do you guys recommend buying one straight up or buying parts to build my own? What would the cost differences be? What make would you recommend? (Currently, I am thinking a Bushmaster). Or if someone could point me to a thread that would give me more info, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
