I'm an Armalite M15-A2 (what they designate the AR15 as) owner and I certainly didn't buy it only for the name. Ok, I did buy it because Armalite is one of the better known manufactures but not "because it was an Armalite".

I certainly didn't pay the "Ferrari" price tag like Colt and Smith & Wesson. I bought mine because it had the features I wanted, had good documentation on accuracy and reliability and good reports from owners and shooters. It was competitively priced and was actually LESS that what Bushmasters are selling for here.

I can't speak of RockRiver right now because I don't own one yet. But I do have one in 9mm on order that should be here in a few weeks. That one too, I bought because of good reviews from owners and shooters in the various forums. And again, it was competitvely priced and a lot less than the Bushmasters.

And YES I absolutely LOVE MY AR15! So do my shooting buddies and we have all (except one novice) shot different brands of AR at one time or another. No better, no worse than the other quality brands or the "Home Built from Quality Parts" rifles we've tried.

So, in conclusion, if there is an Armalite available now at a price you like and you like the thing, then go for it. You won't regret it. But then again, you won't regret any of the better AR15 brands out there too.

I'm just standing around twiddling my thumbs until I can afford a gas-piston AR-15. That is unless ARs are about to become illegal... then I buy whatever is in arms reach.

Heh, heh, heh.... Amen to that Buddy, on both counts. Here they are going to make the AR illegal if the government changes. Those and a whole lot of other Semi-Autos. Hopefully I have a little bit of time to save a bit for a major purchase.

Oops, didn't mean to sound like I was trashing Bushy in that post. I wasn't. I like their stuff too and they make great AR's like any of the other major quality brands.

Just up here, they are more expensive than the other brands and people think they are the Cadillac of the AR15 line and therefore are priced accordingly for some reason.

Easy, Easy Boys...I think Nikon was trying to help here. There are are upgraded parts in the higher end AR's such as LMT and Colt. Are those same parts needed...maybe maybe not. He even said he owned a Stag that had been upgraded.

Everybody likes RRA now because they won the DEA contract, basically the same reason people like Colt and FN because they have government contracts. I have nothing against any of these companies or any other for that matter. I just got MY first AR, I have handled and shot many others. There are a lot of good manufacturers that I would be comfortable owning so if any of you out there want you can give me yours. Now Red Dawn might not happen but a natural or man made disaster (New Orleans for example) might and that is my biggest fear.

Wolverines Forever!

Nikon that's some good information on the BCM and I might just look into that!

I bought my RRA because its a great weapon, I do not buy guns because they relate to a gov. contract. If that was the case, I would own a Berretta 92F, I dont own any and in fact, tend to shy away from them. If I didnt own a RRA, I would own a Stag or a DPMS.

Oh i don't doubt that the internals on the higher end ones have higher QC on their parts or whatever. Balance of needs and $ for me. Lucky Strike-spec and Mil-spec are apparently not the same

ichy, what kind of usage do you put your RRA through? how many rounds do you normally put through it in an outing? Like i said i don't need "the ultimate" rifle....however reliability is probably my main priority along with price and i always like hearing from other owners of something i'm about to buy
