cheap yet still quality rear site for AR15

Trying to get my first AR15 and keep it under my budget of $850. I decide on going with a midlength flattop A4 upper from RRA and a matching RRA lower with the two stage trigger and 6 position stock. I wanted a quad rail system for the handguard but i'll likely need to wait cause it'd bust my budget and i don't exactly need one to shoot thing...it's just something i'd eventually like to get. One thing i would need to shoot the thing though is a rear site.

I know cheap and quality don't normally go together but any recommendations on a rear site that'll work to apprx. 300m, won't fall apart and costs like $75 or less($50 would be really nice)?

Rigid or flip up style ?
RRA makes an A2 "chopped carry handle" style, not sure of the price but the LMT version you can pick up used for around 100.
For a flip up style the ARMS 40 is hard to beat and they can be had for around 75 or so used.
Check out the EE (Equipment Exchange) on AR15.com

Not the prettiest thing, but YHM makes a Rear BUIS that should work for your purposes.

Solid Rear Sight
$59.00
YHM-9493S
This rear sight mounts to the picatinny rail on your AR style flat top. Features include: windage adjustment at 1/2 MOA, a standard flip peep aperture, and provisions for mounting a swiveling sling stud. This affordable, lightweight sighting system takes up very little real estate allowing you to mount scopes and other optics ahead of the sight.http://www.yankeehillmachine.com

I would suggest that you lurk over at AR15.com's Equipment exchange as well. Chances are you should be able to find a decent used Rear BUIS for your price range.

You could also try http://www.gandrtactical.com Grant's never steered me wrong, he even emailed me back when I was going to get a LMT Buis and recommended a cheaper alternative.

Don't know anything about it, but it looks like it has elevation and windage adjustments.

thanks for the recommendations....i forgot about the EE board at ar15.com...definitely need to start lurking over there. That AIM UTG $30 one looks pretty tempting. I just need something i can use until i get some quality glass.

these sights don't need a riser to work with the stock front sight?

Spend what you feel comfortable, but sights and optics are absolutely in the area of getting what you pay for. Yeah it seems silly to pay $90-140 for a small piece, you'll understand once you get one of those lower ball, lower quality sights.

I'm not saying they are total crap, I'm saying that once you feel a Troy or LaRue sight and even an ARMS, you'll completely understand. There is a damn good reason why professionals use Troy and LaRue.

Save up the extra $30-45 and get a quality sight... buy once, pay once and just because you plan on putting a quality optic on the AR, doesn't mean that you should skimp on the BUIS.

I've got the UTG removable rear sight. Similar to the OP's situation, I bought it with the intention of using it just to get my gun up and running. The only problem I had with it was that after the first time out, it worked itself loose. A little Lok-Tite on the mounting screw thread fixed that just fine. The sight zeroed fine, and has held it's zreo . The clicks are very positive, and there is no mush or play anywhere. Well worth the $25.

That looks like a good one there. Small enough to fit an optic infront of it and it still has the elevation and windage adjustments.
